Two people were killed and four were injured at a Buckhead nightclub early Sunday morning after a “physical argument” escalated into gunfire, police said.

Atlanta police were called to the Elleven45 Lounge at 2110 Peachtree Road NW around 2:30 a.m. after receiving a call of shots fired.

Officers found six people shot at the scene, according to a press release from the Atlanta Police Department. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Grady EMS. Two other victims were taken to hospital and are expected to survive.

“Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred during a physical argument at the location that escalated into gunfire,” the release said.

Investigators are on site and are working to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

The victims have not been identified and police have not said whether anyone has been arrested.

Nearly 5,000 people signed a change.org petition in 2020 calling on city officials to close Elleven45, in part because of numerous shootings at the venue.

“The community wants this irresponsibly run establishment to be closed due to the constant code violations, the condition of the exterior and the inconsiderate nature of its patrons,” the petition states.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that in 2019, APD responded to nearly 100 911 calls related to the Elleven45 Lounge address.
