During a news conference Sunday, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said the victim was from Bellingham. He added that a 17-year-old was also shot during the house party but has since been released from an area hospital.

Early added that two other people were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He said several other injured people were treated at the scene but refused to be taken to an area hospital.

Authorities said that around 1 a.m. EDT, a person flagged down a police officer and reported that someone was displaying a firearm at 333 Howard St. in Northborough, WFXT-TV reported.

According to the television station, officers who arrived at the scene heard several shots from inside the apartment building, where about 300 people were attending a party.

Early called the scene “chaotic,” and officers found a 16-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where he was pronounced dead.

Early said three people were arrested on firearms charges and will be arraigned in Westborough District Court on Monday. The suspects are not from Northborough and are between 19 and 27 years old, WFXT reported.

Officials said there was an Air Bnb on the property where the shooting occurred, WFXT reported. The owner told police he had been told there would be no party at the residence, the television station said.
