66-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash near Beresford

UNION COUNTY, SD (KCAU) – A 66-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash near Beresford Saturday afternoon, officials said.

According to the accident report, the man was driving a 3004 Kawasaki VN50 southbound on I-29. For “unknown reasons,” the man veered left off the highway, causing him to crash into the median.

The man was thrown from the motorcycle when he hit the median strip. He wasn’t wearing a helmet.

The driver was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

It is not believed that alcohol or speed were to blame for this accident.

The man’s identity has not been released at this time pending notification of his family.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
