Teacher on the run after being charged with criminal sexual conduct with 17-year-old student in Minnesota | The post-millennial

A Minnesota teacher charged with having sex with a 17-year-old student in a classroom is reportedly on the run after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Caitlin Thao, 24, who was a substitute teacher at St. Paul City School in Minnesota, confessed to having sex with the student in an empty classroom after school. The school released a letter to parents about the incident on Friday.

The teenager admitted to police last March that the two had had an intimate relationship weeks earlier in the classroom where Thao taught. Court documents further allege that Thao invited the student to his home, but he declined.

Thao resigned weeks after the incident and later admitted what happened to a social worker in the psychiatric ward at Regions Hospital.

Eri Fergen, Intertermin’s executive director for the charter school, said Thao “has not worked with us for several months” and declined to comment further on the incident.

The teacher was charged with third-degree sexual misconduct.

According to the Daily Mail, Thao went into hiding after the Ramsey County District Court issued a nationwide arrest warrant for her. The police currently do not know anything about her whereabouts.

Thao faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $30,000.
