Minot suspect arrested on terrorism charges after brief standoff

MINOT, N.D. (KXNET) — A Minot man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident at a hotel in the 200 block of 22nd Avenue NW.

According to the Minot Police Department, officers were dispatched to the location at approximately 8:43 p.m. after receiving reports of an altercation in the parking lot where a man with a gun was chasing another man. When they arrived at the scene, police contacted the suspect (a 45-year-old man from Minot), but he retreated to his hotel room and refused to leave the hotel or follow officers’ commands.


After over an hour and a half, the Minot Police Department SWAT team arrived on the scene to assist officers. The suspect was taken into custody around 11:56 p.m

No injuries were reported during the incident. The suspect was charged with Terrorism and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (both Class C felonies) and is currently being held in the Ward County Jail.
