Murder arrest after man dies at city center property

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of another man at a city center property.

Police were called just before 8:45am BST to a report of a man requiring medical attention in Queens Terrace in Southampton.

Emergency services attended the house and a 42-year-old man from Southampton was pronounced dead at the scene, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police said.

A 54-year-old man, also from Southampton, is in police custody, police confirmed.

Det Ch Insp Ross Toms said officers were “working hard to understand the exact circumstances of what happened”.

He said: “Based on the information we currently have, we believe the individuals involved are all known to each other and that there is no major threat to the local community.”

Officers conducted door-to-door interviews on Sunday and were at the address in question, he added.
