Atlanta Falcons bring girls’ flag football to 20 Alabama high schools

Atlanta, Georgia.May 7, 2024 – Today, the Atlanta Falcons announced that 20 Alabama high schools will receive grants from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation to launch girls’ flag football programs. This announcement highlights the Falcons’ unwavering commitment to empowering young women through the launch of girls’ flag football programs.

In 2019, the Falcons spearheaded efforts to have Georgia recognize girls’ flag football as an official high school sport, becoming the fourth state to do so. Following this success, the Falcons, in conjunction with RCX Sports and the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), embarked on a groundbreaking pilot program to bring women’s flag football to Alabama in 2021. Now, during In the 2024-25 season, the AHSAA sanctioned girls’ flag football as an official high school sport, marking a historic moment for Alabama. A total of 112 high schools across the state have adopted this initiative, providing invaluable opportunities for student-athletes to excel on the field. Additionally, the Falcons announced that 42 Georgia high schools and 12 Montana schools will also receive grants from the Arthur M. Blank Foundation for girls’ flag football programs.
