Vehicle flees from police and crashes into house, 26-year-old woman is killed, 5 are injured

SEVERN, MD. — A high-speed chase ended in tragedy early Monday when a car crashed into a vacant home in Jessup, killing one person and critically injuring several others.

The incident began at approximately 12:55 a.m. on May 6, 2024, when a patrol officer observed a speeding vehicle on Annapolis Road near Reece Road in Severn and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled and the officer gave up the pursuit. Shortly thereafter, an emergency call reported an accident on Jessup Road.

Investigators determined the vehicle, a Lexus IS 350, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Jessup Road when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and crashed into a vacant home.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Trayquan Edward Mckesson of Odenton, was taken to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center along with four passengers with serious injuries. Another passenger was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center. A passenger, Julie Michelle Nushawg, 26, of Pasadena, later died at the trauma center.

Other passengers included Diamond Shanae Cole, 22, of Stoney Beach; Jayla Scotlin Smith, 23, of Baltimore; Dominik Lee Maddox, 21, of Upper Marlboro; and De’Andre Lewis-Queen, 23, of Glen Burnie. All are reportedly in serious condition.

The accident remains under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
