Good morning and thank you for joining us at 5:00 this Mother’s Day morning. I’m TIFFANY WILSON and I have an amazing mother here. KATIE DONOVAN BACK TO YOU. THANK YOU. AND ALL MOTHERS HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY. AND THE MOTHER FIGURES OUT THERE. We know this is a stressful but very special day for many people, and thankfully Mother Nature is cooperating. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER. YES, BEAUTIFUL WEATHER TODAY WE HAVE SUNSHINE TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S. IT WILL BE DRY THIS AFTERNOON ALSO, WHICH IS NICE. YES, WE CERTAINLY WENT OUT A LOT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND I EXPECT MORE OF THEM TODAY. ABSOLUTELY. YES. So a good day for all states. Pretty nice, at least until early next week. And then there will be stormy weather again. RIGHT NOW our temperatures are in the upper 40s. It’s a bit chilly here for most communities, especially north of 275°C. Official temperature for Cincinnati is CBGS 50, but Sharonville Loveland and Mason are all at 49°. This morning it is 46°C in Middletown, 47°C in Hamilton and Fairfield. WE HAVE ABOUT 49 FROM UNION TO WALTON. SUCH A COOL START TO THE DAY. We have calm winds and clear skies above us. Right now we’re seeing about 50 as you head into Batavia, DELISE at 50, FLORENCE at 5150 in Wilmington, and the upper 40s in Springboro and Middlettown. TODAY THE HIGHS WILL RETURN TO THE MID 70S IN MOST COMMUNITIES, LOW TO MID 70S HIGH AND HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING HERE AS WELL, SO THE WEATHER WILL BE FINE TODAY. So I think there are just a few clouds passing overhead. YOUR HOURLY FORECAST FOR THIS MOTHER’S DAY STARTS A BIT COOL, SO YOU’LL NEED THE JACKET EARLY, AND THEN WE’RE GOING BACK TO THE ’60S AT 10:00. AND THEN CLOSE TO 70 LATE MORNING AND EVEN EARLY AFTERNOON. From then on we will continue to warm up until tonight. WE WILL. Talk about the rest of today, and then I’ll do this hour-by-hour breakdown for the beginning of the week when it starts to rain. As we head into the next few days, TIFFANY, KATIE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. 502 RIGHT NOW AND WE GO AHEAD WITH BREAKING NEWS. TWO PEOPLE ARE INJURED AFTER A SHOOTING IN AVONDALE OVERNIGHT. IT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE 1 AM ON EDEN AVENUE NEAR IRWIN PLACE. AND CINCINNATI POLICE TELL US BOTH VICTIMS WERE BROUGHT TO UC MEDICAL CENTER WITH NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES. SO FAR, NO SUSPECT IS IN CARE. The investigators are interviewing witnesses. If you have any information, you are asked to contact Cincinnati Police. NINE TORNADOS ripped through neighborhoods in Ohio and Indiana this week, leaving significant damage in their wake. One of the areas hardest hit by Tuesday’s storms is Franklin County, Indiana, particularly a campground just outside of Brookville. WLWT News Five’s Daisy Kershaw checked in with the people working on the reconstruction there. THE CAMPGROUND IS 48 YEARS OLD AND IN 48 YEARS WE HAVE STORMS. BUT NOTHING SO LIKE THAT. The HICKORY WOODS campsite holds many memories of summers in the sun. SOME FAMILIES NOW HAVE AWAY FROM HOME AFTER AN EF ONE TORNADO PASSED THROUGH THE SITE ON TUESDAY. We have, I don’t know, about 20 to 30 campers that are in a state where they could be counted together. JEFF RUSH HAS BEEN COME HERE FOR MORE THAN A DECADE. He owns a house in HICKORY WOODS and is also chairman of the board here. HE TELLS ME THAT THIS DIFFICULT TIME BRINGS THE NEIGHBORS MUCH CLOSER BECAUSE EVERYONE IS HELPING IN THIS PARK, THE COMMUNITY HAS ALREADY REALLY BROUGHT ITSELF. PEOPLE HERE HAVE MADE PROGRESS AFTER THE STRONG STORM LOOKED DOWN MORE THAN 100 TREES AND TOPPED OVER CARS AND RVS. Since then there has been a huge outpouring of support from volunteers, local businesses and even neighboring campsites. We have had other campsites bring us food. WE HAVE OTHER BUSINESS PLACES THAT BROUGHT US FOOD, WATER, UM, IT WAS INCREDIBLE. Miraculously no one was injured. MANY HANDS HERE, WORKING DIFFERENTLY TO PICK UP THE PIECES. Hopefully just in time for a summer full of friends and fun knowing everyone is safe. That was a big relief because everything else can be fixed, you know, no matter how bad it was, everything else can be taken care of. And that was easy too. KERSHAW REPORTING. NOW RUSH TELLS US NEIGHBORS ARE ALREADY OPENING THEIR HOUSES TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR HOMES TO THE STORM. He says no one will be without a place this summer. People are offering beds, and neighboring campsites are also making space. Well, a Westwood man is behind bars accused of killing a baby. CINCINNATI POLICE SAID THE CHILD WAS FOUND UNRESPONSIVE AT THE ASPEN VILLAGE APARTMENTS LAST FRIDAY. The 1-year-old was taken to the Children of CINCINNATI where he died. Edward Murray, 23, is charged with murder in the death of this baby. A judge set Murray’s bond at $1 million yesterday, and Murray is due back in court on May 20. A GREAT PARKS EMPLOYEE WAS INJURED AFTER AN ACCIDENT IN WINTON WOODS. GREG PARKS TELLS US IT happened just after 6:00 yesterday evening at a welcome stand at the lake’s harbor entrance. THEY SAY THE EMPLOYEE WAS INSIDE THE STAND WHEN A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE STAND. THIS EMPLOYEE WAS BROUGHT TO UC MEDICAL CENTER. Now the port will reopen today as planned. A MAN IS IN ARREST AFTER A POLICE CHASE THAT ENDED IN A HOME INVASION. North College Hill Police tell us it happened yesterday when officers tried to arrest 41-year-old Emmanuel Cody at a home on FOXWOOD DRIVE. Police say Cody ran away before officers arrived and it took several law enforcement agencies to track him down. Police say they caught Cody breaking into a residence in Mount Health. It has since been booked and accounted for
