According to the Tampa Police Department, two people were killed and one was injured in the shooting in SoHo

Two men died and another was injured in an early morning shooting in Tampa’s South Howard neighborhood on Sunday.

According to Tampa police, officers patrolling the area heard gunfire just before 3 a.m. and responded to a parking lot in the 500 block of South Howard Avenue.

Police determined that three men were injured in the shooting and all were taken to a hospital, where two of the men died.

No other people were injured, police said.

Police have not made any arrests in the shooting, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said during a news conference around 5:45 a.m. that News Channel 8 posted on its Facebook page.

The men taken to the hospital were all over the age of 21, Bercaw said. Police have not identified the men further.

“We know that the groups knew each other and had disputes with each other,” Bercaw said.

Police are asking the public to provide any video footage of the shooting.

Bercaw said the shooting occurred outside Jimmy John’s at The Shops on South Howard, 533 S. Howard Ave.

“These senseless acts of violence that occurred this morning occurred in a busy area,” said Hillsborough County Prosecutor Susan Lopez, who also spoke to the media Sunday morning. “There were a lot of people here, there were a lot of Tampa police officers here too.”

The shooting occurred in an area of ​​Tampa often referred to as “SoHo,” near a popular bar and restaurant strip and less than a mile from Hyde Park Village.
