Waterloo Regional Police arrest two parties after failing to stop incident in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate after a vehicle failed to stop for police in Cambridge.

On May 12, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m., police received a report from the public who observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of ​​King Street East and Eagle Street South.

Responding southbound patrol officers located the vehicle in the area of ​​Eagle Street North and Speedville Road. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver was unable to stop and attempted to flee. The driver of the vehicle came into contact with police vehicles, causing minor damage. However, the officers were able to safely and successfully stop the vehicle there.

There were no reports of physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Mississauga man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and several other offenses. A 46-year-old Cambridge woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested for unrelated offenses.

Both parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
