Man accused of kidnapping and assaulting woman in Southbury

A man is facing charges following a domestic violence incident Friday near Elaine Drive and Curt Smith Road in Southbury.

Southbury police say a resident observed Brian Lambert dragging a woman through a wooded area near Elaine Drive, pushing her into a vehicle and driving away at a high rate of speed.

With help from state police, officers performed an emergency location ping on Lambert’s cell phone.

The phone was found to be ringing near Quaker Farms Road and Punkup Road in Oxford, about seven miles away.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and stopped Lambert at the entrance to Southford Falls State Park.

Lambert and the victim were inside. Police say he was taken into custody without incident and aid was provided to the victim.

Lambert’s charges include kidnapping, assault and reckless endangerment.

He is being held on a $5 million bond and is expected to be arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court on Monday.
