Two security guards arrested for raping a female student at Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo

Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State, on Saturday announced the arrest of two members of its vigilante group for allegedly raping a female student.

The management of the university, in a statement released by its public relations officer, Olufemi Atoyebi, confirmed that an internal investigative panel had been set up to investigate the allegation.

Atoyebi said the suspects had been handed over to the police and, after a thorough investigation, promised severe punishment for anyone found guilty. He assured everyone involved that the institution would not tolerate any misconduct that could tarnish its reputation.

The statement said: “The management of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, received a report of alleged rape of one of our female students by two members of our vigilance group on Thursday, May 9, 2024.” The management immediately handed over the two suspects the police, while the university has set up its own internal investigative committee to investigate the allegation. Management would like to assure all stakeholders that ACU will not tolerate any misconduct that could tarnish its enviable image. Raising God-fearing intellectuals is our primary goal in ACU, and we will not tolerate any wrongdoing that may divert our attention from our goal. Anyone found guilty following our thorough investigation will face severe penalties.”
