1 man dead, another injured after accident on Monday in Phoenix

PHOENIX – One person is dead and another is injured following a collision Monday morning, according to Phoenix police.

Michael Peczynski, 70, died at the scene after two vehicles collided around 5:30 a.m. near Cactus Road and 40th Street in Phoenix, police said.

The driver of the other car involved was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. However, this driver’s condition was later stable.

Police believe the accident occurred as Peczynski was driving a silver SUV westbound on Cactus Road.

According to Phoenix police, Peczynski failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and his SUV collided with a car traveling south on 40th Street.

However, the investigation is ongoing, police said.
