MD man arrested after mother found ‘unresponsive’ in bathtub

A man in Maryland has been arrested on murder charges after his mother was found dead in a bathtub.

On Monday, May 6, the Maryland State Police Department said in a news release that officers took 48-year-old Jeremy Gentry of Fruitland into custody on charges of first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

According to police, shortly before 9 p.m. local time on Sunday, May 5, Fruitland Police Department and EMS personnel were dispatched to Jeremy’s home, which he shared with his 68-year-old mother, Beatrice Kay Gentry, in response to a report of an unconscious woman.

Rescue workers met Beatrice’s husband at the entrance to the house and found an “unresponsive” Beatrice in the bathtub. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

Police said Gentry was arrested Monday morning without incident.
