Justice, prosecution, who was suspended, who was fined, incidents, Harry Grant sin bin, Isaiah Papali’i tripped, reaction, rugby league news

Storm star Harry Grant has been charged by the NRL’s Match Review Committee following a controversial incident which saw him sent off during his side’s loss to Cronulla.

Grant made light contact with Sharks pivot Dan Atkinson’s leg while kicking. Such incidents have seen the likes of Manly pro Josh Aloiai and Warriors hooker Freddy Lussick (NSW Cup) suspended this season, although it’s fair to say the Storm captain had far less contact with the leg than Aloiai and Lussick.

Grant was visibly shocked when referee Grant Atkins gave him his marching orders and even said so in the post-match press conference.

Grant is fined $1,000 after pleading early to a Level 1 charge of grievous bodily harm.

Two players were suspended following incidents during Saturday’s games.

Tigers back rower Isaiah Papali’i will be out for a week if he makes an early plea following a fall to Knights forward Leo Thompson. He will be sidelined for two weeks if the Tigers face the offense and lose.

Meanwhile, Knights prop Dan Saifiti will also miss a game as he pleaded guilty early after high-flying the Tigers’ Jake Simpkin.

Saifiti had 10 minutes in the basket for the tackle.

Alex Seyfarth and Jackson Hastings were also cited for high tackles in the Knights’ 20-14 win over the Tigers, but only received fines from the match review committee.
