Man arrested for sexual assault of underage daughter

Rabale police arrested a 45-year-old man on Saturday for allegedly sexually abusing his teenage daughter four years ago. The crime came to light when the victim’s uncle, with whom the minor had lived for a while, wanted to drop her off at home. Fearing that the same horror would happen to her again, the 14-year-old told her uncle how her father had sexually abused her when she was ten.

The accused, a conservation worker, lived with his parents, the victim and her brother in Digha. His wife left him about 13 years ago. The teenager stayed with her uncle in Govandi for a few weeks. When he wanted to take her home on May 7th, she talked about her ordeal.

The shocked uncle immediately took her to Shivaji Nagar police station and lodged a complaint, which was later forwarded to Rabale police. “After the case was handed over, we arrested the accused on Saturday. He confessed to the crime and said he had sexually abused his daughter twice when she was 10 years old,” a police officer said. The minor told her grandmother about the incident, who beat up the accused and took the girl to her uncle’s house, the police officer added.
