Euclid police officer shot in the neighborhood Saturday night

A Euclid police officer was shot and killed Saturday evening.

The officer was shot while responding to a call at a home on E. 211th Street, Euclid police said.

The officer was transported to University Hospitals and his condition is currently unknown, police said.

News 5 has a crew on scene who said there was a helicopter in the air, along with officers from Cleveland Heights, South Euclid, University Heights, Cleveland, East Cleveland, Lyndhurst Sheriff’s Department and Wickliffe on scene.

Officers directed an individual or individuals to exit a home with their hands raised on E. 211th Street, where crews saw them barricaded.

News 5 photographer Mike Vielhaber said he saw an armed person being arrested on the street.

No information has been released regarding the incident and our crew is working to learn more.
