The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is looking for answers after a girl was struck and killed while water skiing in Biscayne Bay on Saturday.

According to officials, the boating accident occurred near Nixon Beach in Miami-Dade County around 4:30 p.m

A preliminary investigation revealed that the girl, whose identity has not been released, was water skiing when she was struck by a boat, FWC said.

Officials say the vessel that fatally struck her was described as a light blue center console, possibly with blue or dark blue bottom paint and three or four white outboard motors. It was last seen heading west from Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne.

FWC officials are asking anyone who witnesses or has information to call the Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922.
