IMPD launches homicide investigation after shooting in East Indy

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating a shooting on the city’s east side as a homicide.

According to an IMPD release, shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, officers responded to the 1100 block of N. Ewing Street, which is near 10th Street and N. Sherman Drive on Indy’s east side the report of a person shot.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a person suffering from gunshot wounds. They were initially reported to be in critical condition.

IMPD initially said it believed the shooting was self-inflicted, but later clarified it was now investigating the incident as a homicide.
