Maid who sexually exploited employer’s 11-year-old son sentenced to 18 months in prison

For four months, the maid sexually groomed her employer’s eleven-year-old son and performed various sexual acts on him.

The 33-year-old maid later told the boy that she had videotaped the acts to scare him into obedience.

The maid, an Indian national, was convicted of five charges and sentenced to 18 months in prison after a five-day trial last Thursday (November 22). Four of these involved committing an indecent act against a child, while one case involved threatening and disturbing the boy.

The boy, now 14, and the maid cannot be named due to a gag order.

The maid, who was employed by the family in early 2015, began sexually harassing the boy a year after she was hired by showing him an obscene gesture. A few days later, she asked the boy to kiss her on the lips before committing an obscene act.

Later, the maid was encouraged and took the boy to a bed. She performed various sexual acts on the boy.

During this time, if there were disagreements between the two, the maid would tell the boy that she had recorded videos of them engaging in sexual acts. She threatened to show the videos to her brother and his parents, which caused the boy to obey her out of fear.

The offenses came to light in July 2016 after the boy’s father discovered his son was distressed.

The son called the father and told him that the maid was beating him. The father returned home, but she tried to brush the matter off. The boy was about to complain to his father, but remained silent when the maid said, “Do you know what your son is doing?”

Suspecting something was wrong, the father took the boy to the master bedroom, where the boy told him about his ordeal.

During the trial the maid strenuously denied committing the offenses and claimed the boy had only gone into the kitchen to “say” them.

The maid also accused a police officer who recorded her statement of raising his hands against her and claimed that she had not eaten for two days before the police questioning.

The public prosecutor requested that the maid be given a prison sentence of 24 months.

“The defendant’s offensive actions of corrupting the victim and stealing his innocence were not only selfish, they had also betrayed the parents’ trust and would undoubtedly leave an indelible psychological impact on the victim,” said deputy public prosecutor Chee Ee Ling.

The maid will appeal her conviction and sentence.
