Man sexually assaults woman in Glasgow bowling alley

Piotr Woszczak, 38, admitted rubbing the victim’s leg, touching her breasts over her clothing, placing his hand on her vagina over her clothing and kissing her face.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the woman he knew met Woszczak on her way home who asked her to go out for a drink.

She refused, saying she had other things to do. However, the two later agreed to meet up for a drink with another man.

All three drank before heading to Bowlarma on Glassford Street to play a game of bowling and drink some more.

Shortly before midnight, the woman left the bowling alley to go to the toilet.

When she returned, Woszczak sat next to her and began groping her breasts over her top and underwear.

He then felt her thigh and groin over her clothes.

The man with her felt unwell and notified security to keep an eye on Woszczak.

The fiscal prosecutor told the court: “All witnesses observed the defendant’s behavior and noted that the woman was heavily intoxicated.” The defendant continued his behavior and kissed the woman on her face, at which point a member of security staff escorted him through the front door postponed.

“Witnesses then left the scene.”

The court heard the man made sure the woman got home safely.

On August 12, she went to the police to report the incident.

Police officers visited Woszczak’s work in February and arrested him.

He was taken to London Road Police Office where he was cautioned and charged and failed to respond.

Woszczak, from Cranhill, was due to appear at Glasgow sheriff court for sentencing but was not present when the hearing was scheduled for May 8.

Sheriff Mary Shields requested that the circumstances of the crime be read out so that they could be recorded and passed on to the social work department.

Sentencing was deferred pending his personal appearance and the completion of a social work report.

The case will be called again next month.
