Downers Grove police reveal new details about fatal hit-and-run crash on Ogden Avenue – NBC Chicago

Downers Grove police said late Saturday that the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a woman Thursday night had been identified, and new details had emerged about the events leading up to the crash.

Robin Robinson, 65, was struck and killed by a driver late Thursday in the 600 block of Ogden Avenue near Fairview Avenue. In a Facebook post Saturday evening, police said investigators obtained surveillance video that showed Robinson fell on the roadway and was lying down before he was hit.

Police also located the driver, a 74-year-old woman, who authorities said cooperated with the investigation.

Robinson’s sister described her as someone who loved everyone in an interview with NBC Chicago on Friday.

“The best word I can use to describe her is love,” said the grieving sister. “She loved everyone, everything, every animal. Pretty much anything, no matter who you are or what you do…”

The incident remained under investigation as of Saturday evening.
