Girl killed in water skiing accident in Biscayne Bay

A girl who was water skiing off Nixon Beach was fatally struck by another boat Saturday afternoon, and authorities are asking the public for help in the investigation.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, the collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. and the girl died from her injuries. Spokeswoman Arielle Callender described the distinctive vessel as having a light blue center console; possibly with blue or dark blue bottom paint and three or four white outboard motors. It was last seen heading west from Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne.

Key Biscayne police provided assistance, according to Police Chief Frank Sousa.
