Woman shot at MetroLink station north of Forest Park in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A woman was shot and killed Saturday afternoon at a crowded MetroLink station north of Forest Park.

Around 3:30 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of DeBaliviere Avenue at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink station platform for a report of a woman who had been shot in the head.

The woman is in her twenties. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition but was unconscious and not breathing.

A shot was fired, said Lt. Adam Duke of the St. Louis Police Department. There were no arrests.

The platform was crowded at the time, Duke said, but “everyone dispersed” when the shot rang out.

“MetroLink has some of the best surveillance technology on the market, so we’ll see what’s in the video,” said Mitchell McCoy, a city police spokesman.

By 6 p.m., MetroLink had resumed normal operations at the station.

“We are saddened by the events that unfolded this afternoon. “We are not immune to the plague of violent crime plaguing our region,” said Kevin Scott, general manager of security for Bi-State Development, which operates MetroLink.
