It is believed the man was injured after falling into the water near Auchenlarie Holiday Park in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway.

The man was helped to shore where he is believed to have been taken by coastguard crews from Prestwick to Mossyard, near the Gatehouse of Fleet.

And there he was taken aboard a rescue plane.

The helicopter crew then took the man to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

A Coastguard spokesman said: “This was a jet ski-related incident.”

“A man fell down and was injured.

“He was recovered ashore and taken to Mossyard where helimed took him to hospital in Glasgow.

“The Coastguard was only there to facilitate the transfer from the scene of the incident to Mossyard.”
