In an era of #MeToo and at a time when conversations about speaking out about harassment are rife, actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has highlighted a very important point – that men play a crucial role in stopping harassment by speaking out about it speak.

“We need to make sure we don’t accept harassment when we see it. We demonize it. We don’t promote or normalize it. Unfortunately, we men have normalized and celebrated such behavior. We didn’t check it the way it should have been checked. Therefore, we must denounce and criminalize such behavior in our circles,” he added.

Abbasi praised women who have spoken out against harassment and encouraged dialogue on the issue. “I am very optimistic that women today are very open and denounce harassment, be it online or in the workplace. Fortunately, the days when women were subjected to harassment and kept quiet about it are behind us.”

The Legend of Maula Jatt star stressed the need to encourage such behavior among women. “The culture of speaking also needs to be promoted. Women should have the opportunity to make noise wherever they are subjected to harassment of any kind. Without fear or hesitation, women should be encouraged to get rid of hell. We need to remove the element of fear and shame among women.”
