ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WROC) – Keon Coleman was on the football field in a Bills uniform Friday. This probably won’t be a big deal in the grand scheme of Coleman’s career, but it seemed pretty important to him today.

“A bunch of nerves,” Coleman said. “It’s exciting. The moment is minimized because the process is so long. But once I grabbed the helmet and put it on, it kind of brought me back to real life. It’s a reality now.

The Bills drafted Coleman with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft at 33rd overall. The Florida State wide receiver turns 21 on May 17.

Rookies stay in pairs for the rookie camp weekend. Coleman said he enjoys talking ball with guys he’s watched on film and played against.

He also appreciated the opportunity to connect with Bills Hall of Famer Andre Reed, which Coleman took the initiative to do.

“I thought it was a respectful thing to do and reach out and ask for any advice he could give me,” Coleman said. “To be able to get mentorship from him.” I thought this would be a great resource. You always want to use the resources provided. More so, just showing my respect.

After Coleman’s first news conference in Buffalo, he politely grabbed a few chocolate chips for the media. One of many Coleman moments that have already gone viral.

Coleman said a giant box of Chips Ahoy cookies mysteriously appeared in his locker recently.

“Yeah,” Coleman said. “That surprised me.”

Welcome-to-the-NFL moments come in all sizes and flavors for the Bills’ top pick.
