Police believe 17-year-old Baylee Carver is dead. Joshua Biles, 20, is charged.

ALBEMARLE, N.C. – A search is underway for the remains of an Albemarle teenager because police believe she is dead.

Albemarle police said officers responded to a home on Floral Drive at 4:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a 9-1-1 call from someone asking for help . The department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said their investigation concluded that 17-year-old Baylee Carver died.

Police also said a suspect was in custody. 20-year-old Joshua Biles is charged with obstruction of justice and concealing death.

Albemarle police, the NCSBI and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children are currently working to find Carter’s remains.
