Slidell man arrested after fatal car crash

SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — Slidell Police have made an arrest following a fatal car crash on Friday, May 10.

According to Slidell police, the accident occurred on westbound Gause Boulevard at Highway 190 around 3:30 p.m.


When officers arrived at the scene, they saw an injured man lying on the road and a red Chevrolet Silverado in the ditch.

According to investigators, the victim was walking east on the shoulder of Gause Boulevard West.

According to investigators, the suspect, 36-year-old Eric Gonzalez, struck the victim with a red Chevy, causing the accident.

The victim was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries.

According to investigators, Gonzalez showed signs of impairment and was arrested.

Gonzalez is charged with driving under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and involuntary manslaughter.
