“We’re excited to go play ball.”

The Houston Texans, much like the rest of the NFL, are just beginning their rookie minicamps before beginning OTAs and training camp.

The Texans have reloaded after a very successful debut season under head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie QB CJ Stroud and are looking to make an even deeper run in 2024. With what they were able to accomplish this offseason, there’s a ton of hype around what this means. The Houston team can be and it’s for good reason since from the outside, Ryans and the front office were playing their version of Madden.

With the way things have gone this offseason, the hype is only just beginning, and it looks like the Texans will be one of the most featured teams in the NFL this season when it comes to televised games in prime time nationwide.

During the media portion of rookie minicamp, head coach DeMeco Ryans talked about the possibility of playing in several prime-time games this season.

“When the schedule comes out – whatever it is – we’ll be excited to go play ball,” Ryans said. “No matter where it is, when it is, our team will be ready to play. We are excited about every game. There is not one game I watch more than the other. Every game is important, we “I’m trying to stack more in the win column. That’s what it’s about for me.

“Publishing the schedule is part of it. There’s a lot of hype and speculation about who’s playing where in prime time (games). To me, when the ball is thrown, we don’t care about the number of cameras on us, we don’t. It doesn’t matter what network is showing the game. We try to be the best football team on the field that day. Everything that happens outside doesn’t really matter. “For us and the way we approach it, it’s about being the best football team on the field.”

This is exactly how the question should be approached. Ryans understands that it doesn’t matter how many eyes are watching them: they still have to perform to the best of their abilities. The Texans will have a tougher schedule than in 2023 due to winning their division and qualifying for the divisional round of the playoffs, so the pressure will be even greater, especially given the expectations.

If they can hold on, there’s no reason they can’t be one of, if not the best team in the NFL in 2024. There will undoubtedly be a lot more eyes on Houston this season, but they look up to the challenge and I fully expect the team to continue where they left off starting in 2023.
