Inquiry into death of teenager killed in M6 crash suspended

Chloe Williams was a passenger in a Volkswagen Polo on the M6 ​​on December 2, 2022.

At around 5:15 p.m. the car got into a collision with three other vehicles between junctions 16 and 17.

Chloe, from Dudley, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital where she died as a result of the accident.

A 27-year-old man from Rossendale, Lancashire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but was released on bail pending an investigation.

In August 2023, Cheshire Police confirmed that the man was no longer on bail but “remains under investigation pending further inquiries”.

On December 21, 2022, Cheshire Coroners opened an inquest into Chloe’s death, with the court hearing that Chloe’s death was the result of a head-on collision.

The case was adjourned until August 2023 for evidence collection and then again in November as the police investigation was still ongoing.

At a further hearing on Wednesday May 8, Coroner Victoria Davies adjourned the case for a further six months as the criminal investigation continues.

On Thursday, May 9, Cheshire Police said there was no further information available on the case at this time.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or dashcam footage from the time of the collision to come forward.

At the time of the accident, Chloe’s family released a statement saying: “We have tragically lost our beautiful baby girl.”

“She was about to start her dream career and now everything has been taken away from her.”
