SYRACUSE – A motorcyclist was airlifted in stable but critical condition after a motorcycle-versus-pickup truck accident Friday, May 10.

At approximately 6:09 p.m., the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and first responders were dispatched to a motorcycle-pickup truck accident at the intersection of North SR 13 and Executive Drive in Syracuse.

“Rescue crews arrived on scene and located a motorcycle and a pickup truck that were involved in the accident,” a KCSO FACT report states. “A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on SR 13 approaching Executive Dr. A 2023 Dodge Ram was on Executive Drive and turned north on SR 13 without being able to yield to the southbound motorcycle.”

According to the KCSO FACT team report Denny Koselke54, Syracuse, was driving the 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Jack Wright, 65, Leesburg, was driving the 2023 Dodge Ram.

Koselke was thrown from his motorcycle after the collision.

Koselke was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of his injuries and is in stable but critical condition,” the report said. Wright was treated at the scene by Syracuse EMS.

Assisting on scene were the Syracuse Police Department, Turkey Creek Fire Territory, Syracuse EMS, North Webster EMS, Department of Natural Resources, Lutheran Air and Reichert & Knepp Towing service.

The accident is being investigated by the KSCO FACT team.
