CHP officers attempted to perform life-saving measures on the man before Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived, who pronounced him dead at the scene, KABC7 reported.

KABC7 also reported that the suspect may have been a motorcyclist. A spokesman for the CHP’s traffic management center had no confirmation.

Video footage from the scene shows what appeared to be a bullet hole on the right side of the Camaro’s windshield.

No suspect or vehicle information was available.

The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed all lanes of the eastbound highway at the Via Verde exit for several hours while the shooting was investigated.
