Trans person attacked at wedding

At least 10 people have been accused of attacking a transgender person and taking money from her during a wedding reception.

The complainant, Sara Zubaidah, lodged a police complaint saying that they were dancing at a wedding party two nights ago when the accused Muhammad Safdar and others, under the influence of alcohol, started shouting at them and tried to attack them. When the victim resisted, the defendant allegedly hit her with sticks and punches. They also assaulted another transgender, Sara Bijli, and took away Rs 55,000 from her, the complainant alleged.

The police registered a case and started searching for the accused.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against two accused who attacked a staff member at the burns unit at Allied Hospital and threatened to throw acid on her face.

According to police, the victim said that she was doing her duty as a dresser at the hospital three months ago when the accused Rizwan came to the ward with a nurse. She stated that the accused managed to get her phone number and started harassing and blackmailing her. “When I strictly forbade it, the defendant proceeded to threaten me,” she added.

The victim alleged that on May 1, when she was on duty, the accused came to the burn unit with his accomplice and physically attacked her while the other staff tried to stop him. She stated that the defendant threatened to throw acid on her face and kill her in front of the employees. The police have registered a case under Sections 354, 509 and 34 against the accused.
