Pedestrian found dead after fatal hit-and-run in east Phoenix

PHOENIX – Police say investigators are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning in east Phoenix.

Officers arrived at the scene near 60th Street and McDowell Road around 1 a.m., where they found the body of a pedestrian in the street and stopped several vehicles nearby, police said.

Witnesses told investigators the pedestrian was in the street when a vehicle traveling west on McDowell struck the pedestrian and then drove away.

A second vehicle traveling in the same direction hit the pedestrian lying on the road. The driver of the second vehicle stopped and asked for help.

No information about the original driver’s vehicle has been released.
