Shreveport man injured after altercation with man with hatchet

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A man was leaving when another man began harassing him and attacking him with a survival hatchet.

Around 9 a.m. on May 10, Shreveport police responded to a stabbing at Spring and Crockett streets. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim was walking when the alleged suspect began following and harassing him.

The victim says the suspect began digging through a backpack and pulled out a survival hatchet, at which point the victim armed himself with a fixed blade. The suspect reportedly attacked the victim, leaving a minor injury approximately 3.5 centimeters long and half an inch wide.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have been notified.

It is unknown if the suspect was injured during the altercation.

The suspect’s description is as follows: He was a black male wearing a white shirt and red shorts with dreadlocks.
