Man arrested for raping underage girl

Thane, May 11 (PTI) A 22-year-old man was arrested in Dombivli district for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl from his neighborhood, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place in Sagarli village, an officer from Manpada police station said.

According to the complaint, the accused lured the girl to his house and raped her after threatening to kill her and her parents if she resisted.

The girl initially didn’t tell her parents about the incident. When she developed a stomach ache two days ago and her mother took her to the doctor, she revealed everything, the official said.

A case of rape under Section 376 of the IPC and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act has been registered and investigation is underway, he said.

A local court on Saturday remanded the accused in police custody until May 15. PTI COR KRK
