One person killed, two others injured in Cayuga County crash – Finger Lakes Daily News

A fatal car crash Friday afternoon in Cayuga County involving multiple cars and a semi-truck remains under investigation.

According to a preliminary state police investigation, a tractor-trailer driven by 59-year-old Raymond Swank of Union Springs was traveling west through a work zone on State Routes 5 and 20 in Aurelius when, failing to slow down due to stationary traffic, struck a 2016 BMW X5, which was driven by a 74-year-old man. The impact caused a secondary collision with a 2015 Honda Accord driven by 65-year-old Dale Leone of Auburn. A third collision then occurred with a 2014 Chevy Cruise driven by 22-year-old Isis Binns of Aurora.

The unknown 74-year-old driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Swank and Leone were not injured. A passenger in Leone’s car, Jeffrey Leone, was transported by Auburn City Ambulance to Auburn Community Hospital with minor injuries. Binns was taken by Cayuga Ambulance to Upstate Community Hospital with minor injuries.

This investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
