Miranda Cosgrove recalls a horrific stalker incident similar to that of “Baby Reindeer” after a man fatally shot himself in her yard

MIRANDA Cosgrove has told of her alarming stalker incident in 2016 when a man fatally shot himself in her garden.

As Richard Gadd’s Netflix miniseries Baby Reindeer continues to grow in popularity, there are similarities between the drama and Miranda’s story.

The Nickelodeon star opened up about the horrific incident that happened eight years ago.

A man who had been stalking the iCarly star set himself on fire and fatally shot himself in her front yard in Los Angeles, California.

She was not home at the time of the incident but returned to discover the crime scene.

The man had previously tried to shoot a woman who looked very similar to Miranda as the third party drove past the actress’ property.

Years later, Miranda told Bustle that she met the third victim.

OTHER SIDE OF STORY

“This girl came up to me and said, ‘I didn’t know if I should tell you this or how to say it, but I’m actually the girl who was at your house and got shot’.” Miranda told the outlet.

“She seemed to process things in a similar way to me,” she continued.

“She said she had just gone through a breakup the night before and was going to her friend’s house because she was so distraught.

“When they took her to the Hollywood police station to ask what he looked like and how this all happened, the investigators said, ‘Start at the beginning.’

“‘What happened?’

“And she said, ‘Well, he broke up with me last night,’ and she started telling them all about the breakup,” the iCarly actress concluded.

Miranda said she was glad everyone now had the opportunity to make light of the situation, but that there was still residual trauma.

FORWARD

She still lives on the same property and admits she doesn’t always feel safe there.

“For two years after it happened, I wouldn’t really stay there.

“Then I got into a relationship and because that person was with me, I was less afraid.

“But I don’t really like being there alone.”

Baby Reindeer was released on Netflix on April 11, 2024.

The miniseries is about a bartender who comes face to face with a stalker who’s been ogling Richard Gadd – and it’s based on a true story from the actor’s real life.

With all the hustle and bustle surrounding the show, Miranda praised Richards’ ability to act and relive his own trauma.

“I feel like if I were like that it would be so hard to have to relive your most horrific experience and then try to live it out,” she commented.

CAREER MOVEMENTS

Recently, Miranda starred in Mother of the Bride, a Netflix series with Brooke Shields.

Aside from promoting her films and working with Despicable Me and iCarly, she leads a quiet life on social media.

“iCarly” was canceled after a cliffhanger third season finale.

“I would like to be able to wrap up the story in some way,” she recently told Entertainment Tonight.

“Maybe, hopefully, we’ll get there one day,” Miranda admitted.
