British tourist, 19, ‘raped on beach’ while holidaying on Greek island of Ios.

A British woman has claimed she was raped on a beach on the Greek holiday island of Ios, according to media reports.

The 19-year-old woman reported that she was raped by a stranger on the beach in the Mylopotas area on Wednesday evening, Greek newspaper Proto Thema reported.

The attack is said to have taken place between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Police investigations are currently underway to find the suspected perpetrator.

Located halfway between Naxos and Santorini in the Aegean Sea, the island is a popular tourist destination known for its nightlife.

It follows a separate case earlier this month in which a 21-year-old British woman was allegedly raped while on holiday in Greece by a man she met in a nightclub.

Greek media reports said she was attacked in the man’s home while his three friends were filming.

She had been partying with a friend in the Keramikos district of Athens when she met the man and returned to his house, where she was allegedly raped.

According to Proto Thema, the woman reportedly managed to escape the property and report the attack to police.

A rape case has been filed against an Israeli man over the alleged attack.
