Atlanta Falcons sign two veteran free agents to 90-man roster

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowlerreports that the Atlanta Falcons have signed two veteran free agents, according to GSE Worldwide President Dan Canter. The Falcons signed two of the 13 players who tried out for the roster during yesterday’s rookie minicamp: former New York Jets/Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Bradlee Anae and former of Tennessee Titans defensive lineman S Dane Cruikshank.

Anae received a brief message from coach Raheem Morris during his press conference before the start of rookie minicamp, stating that he wanted to “see Anae” and the other tryout players more than the rookies he was looking for for months. Anae is a 26-year-old player who was originally drafted by the Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Anae’s physique and high motor skills will make him a solid contributor to the roster.

The Falcons have been looking for someone who can start to take down tight ends in the passing game, ranking 31st against tight ends in passing DVOA last season. Cruikshank made his mark at Tennessee in big-Dime packages that run three cornerbacks and three safeties on the field. Cruikshank could find himself doing the same thing as a possible answer to the lack of talent at the cornerback position.
