Mostly dry Mother’s Day weekend, then the storms return

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Saturday will be partly cloudy and dry with highs in the upper 80s. Mother’s Day Sunday will be mostly cloudy and dry for most of the day, with isolated showers and storms developing late afternoon into the evening. Some strong to severe storms are expected Sunday night into Monday, with a slight risk of level two across the area.

Threats will come from all four types of severe weather, including isolated tornadoes.

The threat will be Monday, mainly afternoon to evening. The WPC forecast significant amounts of rain over the next seven days, showing that around 10 to 12 cm of rain is possible across our area, with at least half of that expected to fall on Monday alone.

In the extended forecast, showers end from west to east early Tuesday morning, then dry midweek, then another round of showers/storms possible late next week.
