According to WTXL, the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home about several juveniles being attacked by a dog in Quitman just before 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Authorities found the body of 35-year-old Courtney Williams in the yard of the home, according to WTXL. The sheriff’s office contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for assistance.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said when officers arrived at the scene, they were confronted by several aggressive dogs, according to WALB. Authorities learned that several teenagers had already been hospitalized.

An autopsy is expected to be performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner’s Office, the news outlet said. They will determine the cause and manner of death.

“I feel for the family and the children because now they have to celebrate Mother’s Day without their mother,” a neighbor told WALB.
