3 dead, 3 seriously injured in car crash early Saturday morning – Pasadena Now

A devastating single-vehicle crash in Pasadena early Saturday morning left three people dead and three others fighting for their lives, according to police.

The tragic incident occurred around 2:38 a.m. when a Tesla Model 3 left the road and crashed into an unoccupied building in the 2300 block of Foothill Boulevard, according to Lt. Anthony Russo of the Pasadena Police Department.

The vehicle was carrying six passengers at the time of the accident, he said.

Three of the car’s occupants were all transported to a local hospital in critical condition, with one later stabilized. Tragically, three other passengers died at the scene of the accident.

The violent crash brought down power lines and caused a widespread power outage that left an estimated 500 homes and businesses in the dark.

Authorities have closed streets from Craig Avenue to Sierra Madre Boulevard along Foothill Boulevard, while Vista Street remains closed north and south of Foothill.

Investigators believe excessive speed played a role in the crash, but the exact cause remains under investigation by the agency’s major crash investigation team.

The names of the deceased and injured are being withheld pending notification of their families.
