Police Officer Involved in Arrest of Philadelphia LGBT Affairs Director “No Longer Employed by the State Police.”

The officer who arrested the head of Philadelphia’s LGBT Division and her husband – an incident captured in a video circulating on social media – is “no longer employed by the Pennsylvania State Police,” the department says.

It was unclear whether the officer, whose name was not released, was fired or resigned, but the officer was out effective Friday, Lt. Pennsylvania State Police spokesman Adam Reed told CNN. The agency does not publish any additional information.

The officer was on reduced duty following the March 2 incident and was not on patrol while the incident was investigated.

Celena Morrison, executive director of the city’s Office of LGBT Affairs, recorded part of her husband Darius McLean’s arrest on the Vine Street Expressway, her sister told CNN at the time.

In the video, Morrison can be heard repeatedly saying, “That’s my man,” as McLean lies on the ground.

Then heard her say, “I work for the mayor.”

“That’s because I’m black,” McLean says in the video.

The unnamed soldier replies, “It’s not because you’re black.”

The officer then walks toward Morrison and the camera becomes unstable.

In a press conference days after the incident, Morrison explained her comments, CNN affiliate WPVI reported.

“Fearing that the worst was about to happen, I shouted the mayor several times to the officer I work for, hoping to make him realize that he was dealing with people he didn’t have to be afraid of “, she said.

According to a police report on the incident, both individuals were resisting arrest at the time of the traffic stop.

The unnamed state trooper seen in the video initiated a traffic stop on the driver of a gray Infiniti sedan for “multiple vehicle code violations,” according to the report. Shortly thereafter, a green Dodge sedan pulled up and parked behind the officer’s vehicle.

The person driving the Dodge became “verbally combative” as the officer approached, the report said.

The driver of the Infiniti interfered with the arrest of the driver of the Dodge, the report said.

“Both individuals were subsequently arrested for resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and other related charges,” the report said.

The report does not list Morrison or McLean by name.
