A breathtaking Mother’s Day weekend is coming!

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Mother’s Day weekend is looking spectacular when it comes to the weather!

We wake up cold this morning to temperatures in the low 50s, so a light jacket may be necessary.

This afternoon temperatures will range from the low 70s in the mountains to the mid to upper 70s in the metro area, with only sunshine.

There will be a light breeze in the afternoon with winds of 5 to 10 mph and gusts between 15 and 20 mph.

Another round of 50s overnight tonight before temperatures quickly warm to the upper 70s to lower 80s for Mother’s Day Sunday.

You’ll notice a few additional clouds tomorrow, but the day will remain dry.

Unfortunately, our unexplained pattern for the work week returns. A few showers will move in from the west on Monday before an incoming weather system moves in on Tuesday.

This system will bring widespread rain and storms on Tuesday, resulting in a first day of weather alert. Large-scale storms are not expected, but an isolated strong to severe storm is possible on Tuesday.

Wednesday will be largely dry, as will Thursday, but Friday is another day of the first weather advisory as a low system along the Gulf brings widespread rain and storms to north Georgia.
