One was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Kansas City, Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Kansas Police Department reported that one person was killed in an officer-involved shooting Friday evening.

Police said an officer found a stolen car stopped on the road in Kansas City, Kansas, near 7th Street and Interstate 35 just before 11:15 p.m. When the officer stopped, three people fled.


According to KCKPD, the officer pursued the subjects on foot and up the southbound ramp of Interstate 35. During the chase, one of the suspects began shooting at the officer. The officer responded and shot the suspect.

Police said the chase resulted in a second person being arrested, while the third suspect, who continued to flee, could not be found. The person shot by the officer was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

Investigators found two handguns at the scene, but the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the incident.
