Police: Emlenton man convicted of 11 counts of assault following domestic altercation involving ceramic lamp

EMLENTON BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — An Emlenton man is in jail and denied bail after he allegedly attacked a woman with a ceramic lamp in the Emlenton neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Court documents show that Franklin-based state police have filed criminal charges against the 60-year-old George Wilson Willis Jr.of Emlenton, in the office of District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on Thursday, May 9.

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Highfield of PSP Franklin was dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Hill Street in Emlenton Borough, Venango County, at approximately 1:16 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, for a report of an assault.

Trooper Highfield met with the known female victim who stated the attack occurred on River Avenue in Emlenton. The victim explained her and George Willis They argued and she knocked a ceramic lamp onto the floor, causing it to break. Willis then picked up the lamp and struck the victim in the head, the complaint states.

The victim told police the argument continued when Willis pushed her into a door frame, causing her head and forearm to hit the door. She said she left the apartment and went to the Emlenton Borough Police Department to file a report, but they could not be reached, according to the complaint.

A large bump was observed on the victim’s forehead above the right eye. She stated that the dent was caused by the door hitting, the complaint states.

The victim also showed police his forearm, which was scraped and bruised, the complaint continues.

Trooper Highfield went to the River Avenue residence and spoke with Willis, who began screaming that his home was destroyed, according to the complaint.

Willis then opened the door and said, “Look inside.” The complaint noted that the house was in disarray.

According to the complaint, Willis was then taken into custody for domestic violence.

He was arraigned before Judge Lowrey on Thursday, May 9th at 4:15 p.m. on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (11 points)
– Harassment – ​​Subject to physical contact, summary

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail and was denied bail. The reason given for the bail appeal was: “No combination of bail conditions can guarantee the safety of the victim.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m. in Venango County Central Court.
