Pakistani man ‘raped’ British teenage girl in Greek bar

Greek police have arrested a Pakistani man for allegedly raping a 16-year-old British teenager in the toilets of a bar in Crete.

The alleged attack occurred just meters away from her parents, who were unaware of the tragedy.

The disturbing incident occurred on the night of May 8, 2024, when the 16-year-old tourist was enjoying an evening with her parents at a bar in the popular tourist destination of Malia.

The girl reportedly excused herself to go to the bathroom.

She was allegedly attacked in the bathroom by an attacker who followed her inside.

Although the perpetrator quickly fled the scene, Malian law enforcement officers managed to identify him by reviewing CCTV footage obtained from the bar.

The victim reported the harrowing experience later that same night, prompting authorities to take immediate action.

Police have since arrested and charged the man, a Pakistani national who has not yet been named.

The Pakistani man denied the attack and claimed the girl followed him to the toilet after they met at the bar.

While in the toilet, he said the incident was “limited to erotic situations”.

The shocking case comes just weeks after police in Mallorca arrested an Italian man on suspicion of raping a British woman on a beach near Magaluf.

The 20-year-old was held after the victim complained he had forced himself on her after a night out in Palmanova, which borders the famous party destination.

According to sources close to the investigation, the alleged victim is a vacationer.

These sources confirmed that the alleged rape took place in the early hours of April 11, but the arrest was not made until three days later after investigators recorded a witness’ statement and reviewed CCTV footage.

A spokesman for the Guardia Civil in Mallorca said:

“The Civil Guard in Calvia has arrested a 20-year-old Italian man as the suspected perpetrator of a sexual assault on a woman.

“The alleged victim and the suspect met in a night bar in Palmanova.”

“When the bar closed, the suspect allegedly took advantage of the woman’s disorientation due to the amount of alcohol she had consumed to take her to the beach and rape her.

“Officers launched an investigation and were able to identify and locate the suspected perpetrator.”

After a subsequent court appearance, an investigating judge released the unnamed Italian on bail.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
